10 December 2009; The SJI Master Gardeners hosted author and zoologist, Professor Emeritus Eugene Kozloff of UW, at the Commons of Friday Harbor Labs. This event was open to the public and was filled to capacity by the end of the evening. Eugene is the author of the MG's basic tool for plant identification "Plants of Western Oregon, Washington & British Columbia".
Eugene's presentation was centered around the theme of "Native Plants, What Works & What Doesn't". He hosted a slideshow of plant pictures that he has taken over his lifetime of travels throughout Washington state and Oregon; adding information regarding the virtues of the plant, the habitat or even an interesting event surrounding the adventure of 'finding' the plant.
We are greatly honored to have had the opportunity to host Professor Kozloff and share an insight to the events and adventures that background his book.
